01
Choose the kind of boho style you mean
“Boho” can describe a desert illustration, botanical details, warm color or a handmade feel. Narrow it to one direction before choosing a template. If your venue is already visually rich, an uncluttered invitation can connect to that setting without repeating every floral or textile detail.
- Desert direction: make the landscape sketch the main visual feature.
- Earthy direction: keep the accent palette small and the wording high contrast.
- Minimal direction: use generous spacing and a single illustration.
02
Make earthy colors readable
Pale ink on a warm background can look softer on screen than it does in print. Put essential information in a color that remains readable at normal card size, and use lighter tones for supporting design details. If the template allows color changes, test your actual wording before deciding on the palette.
- Read the address and RSVP line at the final size.
- Limit decorative script to short text that remains clear.
- Do not shrink body text to make room for a larger illustration.
03
Build a suite without assuming pieces are included
An invitation, a save the date and a details card have separate jobs. Start with the pieces guests actually need and check whether the listing includes them. The current Joshua Tree listing covers one invitation design; coordinating pieces can be discussed as a separate custom request.
- Invitation: names, date, time and location.
- Details card or website: logistics, attire and weekend plans.
- RSVP: response destination, deadline and any required guest choices.
04
Choose paper after you check the files
Texture can complement the style, but fine lines and small text still need to reproduce clearly. Ask your printer which paper and export format suit your design. A sample proof lets you assess the illustration, color and readability together before placing the full order.
- Confirm the design size before selecting envelopes.
- Check the printer’s bleed and margin requirements.
- Budget for printing, envelopes and postage separately from the template.
